Sidai officially launched
Mr Julius Kiptarus, Director of Livestock Production representing the Hon Dr Mohamed Kuti, Minister for Livestock Development, officially launched Sidai at the Ole Sereni Hotel on 7th March. He noted that “Sidai Africa has opened several outlets all over the country. It is my hope that they will continue to open other outlets to avoid our farmers being exploited by unscrupulous persons”
The event was attended by over 120 representatives of stakeholders in the livestock sector. It was addressed by Dr Christie Peacock the Founder and Chairman of Sidai who explained the vision of the company to transform the livestock sector in Kenya and Mr Anthony Wainaina Sidai’s Managing Director who reported on the progress to date.
Support was given to the new company by Dr Victor Yamo, outgoing Chairman of the Kenyan Veterinary Board who saw Sidai as a valuable new entrant into the sector that would support qualified veterinarians and para-veterinarians to achieve high professional standards. Dr Therese Gichame, representing the Director of Veterinary Services, welcomed Sidai and hoped that it would achieve success in setting standards of excellence others would follow.
Mr Kiptarus closed the event by saying that “Sidai is a newly registered social enterprise embarking on a journey that will make livestock farming a rewarding venture for thousands of livestock farmers across Kenya. The Maasai have a name for something considered good- Sidai. Sidai Africa Ltd is inspired by the untapped potential in Kenya’s livestock farming sector and have a vision of impacting positively, bringing goodness to Kenya’s livestock farming communities.
