VACANCY: NATIONAL SALES MANAGER

 Sidai is a vertically-integrated company supplying quality livestock inputs, crop inputs and services to farmers in Kenya. Sidai sells to distributors and stockists through its wholesale business.

We are searching for a National Sales Manager.

 Job summary

 This role will involve leading and managing the sales team to achieve revenue targets, drive business growth and maintain strong customer relationships. The role will be responsible for the implementation of commercial strategy, successful execution of sales plans, analyzing market trends, managing product mix, driving hub efficiency and ensuring profitability at all Sidai business hubs.  

 Main responsibilities

Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Deliver and develop commercially viable business hubs

  • Ensure all business hubs are profitable.
  • Manage costs and revenue streams in the hubs.
  • Manage distributor and all channel relations and recruitment.
  • Develop business plans and ensure successful implementation.

Growth & Budget management

  • Driving top line profitability
  • P&L ownership of individual hubs and the organization.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)

Products, Pricing and Promotions

  • Product – Ensure the right product mix
  • Promote Sidai branded products and directly imported products through the hub.
  • Prepare monthly demand forecast for all products
  • Develop and manage exciting promotional campaigns at the farmer, distributor and stockists’ level to drive sales.
  • Pricing – ensure competitive pricing of all products to all distributors and at the Sidai outlets to ensure farmers and wholesalers are getting value for money.
  • Monitor competition and develop strategies to ensure Sidai has a competitive edge.

Business Development

  • Explore new business opportunities for Sidai in the region.
  • Develop and package innovative service packages for livestock keepers.

Partnerships

  • Build and manage relationships with stockists, Distributors, farmers and suppliers.
  • Planning, executing and managing farmer training programmes and marketing activities with key stakeholders.
  • Develop marketing plans with direct import suppliers to ensure products that are co-branded are supported at the retail and farm level.

Distribution

  • Design, manage, evaluate and improve distribution channels in the region
  • Develop a cost-effective distribution that will ensure Sidai products reach the last mile.

Team management

  • Recruit, manage and coach team members to ensure synergy and achievement of the overall company strategies.
  • Identify training needs for the Commercial department and come up with a training programme to address the gaps.

Customers & processes

  • Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing).
  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with all customers.
  • Develop a customer service charter/protocol.
  • Put in place a mechanism of measuring customer feedback to ensure high retention rate.
  • Adhere to the credit policy.

 Qualifications, skills & competencies

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Agribusiness or Animal Science related field.
  • MBA or post graduate diploma in Sales/marketing is added advantage.
  • 10+ years’ experience in e.g. retail, wholesale, Agricultural, distributive or FMCG environment.
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset.
  • Strong experience in managing complex projects / objectives / business units / functions.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytictools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and manage multiple teams efficiently.
  • Hands-on, unassuming & results oriented mindset with a focus on achieving targets.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
  • Independent and entrepreneurial.
  • Excellent with tools (Ms excel & PowerPoint, sales & distribution applications).
  • Ability to 'get things done' through diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with distribution and route to market models.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Relationship focused with the ability to manage a variety of personalities and approaches to business
